Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about tariffs, energy communities and your switch to Aldea, all in one place.
All frequently asked questions
Tariffs
Is there a lock-in period? +
No. You can change your tariff or cancel whenever you want, with no penalty.
How do I switch? +
We only need your CUPS and your details. We handle the switch and your power is never cut off.
What happens with my solar surplus? +
With the Solar Tariff we compensate it on your bill, with a balance carried over month by month.
Can I change tariff later on? +
Yes, whenever you need to. We help you choose the one that suits you best at any time.
How it works
Will my power go out when I switch? +
No. The switch is purely administrative: it's handled in your grid operator's systems, not in your home. There are no cuts or interruptions, your electricity keeps working normally the whole time.
Do I have to install anything at home? +
No. There's no need to fit panels, batteries or do any work. If you join a nearby solar community, the panels are elsewhere and you receive your share of the energy through the usual grid.
Is there any lock-in period? +
There's no lock-in. You can leave whenever you want with no penalties. We'd rather you stayed because you're happy.
What happens with my current contract? +
We take care of cancelling your previous contract and activating the new one with Aldea. You don't have to call your current supplier or cancel anything yourself: we handle it for you.
How long does the switch take? +
Once you sign, switching supplier usually takes around two or three weeks, depending on the grid operator's timelines. We keep you posted so you always know where things stand.
Do I need to live near a solar community? +
To join a solar community, yes: you need to be within 1 km. But even if there isn't one nearby, you can still sign up for our 100% green energy as a supplier.
Aldea Customers
Will my power be cut off when I switch? +
No. Switching supplier is just an administrative step: no cables are touched and there's no interruption to your supply. Your power stays exactly the same, with the same wiring and the same meter.
Is there any lock-in period? +
No. With Aldea there's no lock-in and no penalties. You stay with us because we treat you well and it's worth it, not because we force you to.
Is the energy really green? +
Yes. All the energy we supply is backed by 100% renewable guarantees of origin. It's certified clean power, not a marketing label.
Can I also join a solar community? +
Yes, and that's the beauty of the Aldea ecosystem. If there's a solar community near your home (less than 1 km away), you can join it and use energy generated in your own neighbourhood, with nothing to install and at zero cost. We sort it out for you from here.
Is this for my business or just my home? +
Both. We work with homes and businesses, adapting the plan and the support to how you use energy. Tell us your situation and we'll suggest what fits best.
Aldea Generation
Do I have to install panels on my roof? +
No. In a solar community you share the energy from a nearby installation. Nothing goes on your house and there's no building work.
How do I know if I can join? +
If you live or work within 1 km of an active solar community, you can sign up. Tell us your address and we'll check it for you.
How do I see the savings? +
The energy that corresponds to you from the community is discounted straight off your bill. The more the sun produces, the more you save.
I have a roof and want to generate myself. Can I? +
Absolutely. If you have a warehouse, premises or a municipal rooftop, we can use it to create or expand a solar community. Get in touch and we'll look into it.
What if there's no community near me yet? +
We'll note your interest. We're opening new communities (Valencia, Albacete and more), and we'll let you know as soon as one is within reach.
Aldea Digital
Does the app cost anything? +
No. The Aldea app is free for our customers and you'll find it on the App Store and Google Play.
Do I need to install anything at home to see my consumption? +
You don't have to install a thing. With your Aldea electricity contract you can already check your consumption and savings from the app or your customer area.
Can I see my solar community from the app? +
Yes. If you're part of an Aldea solar community, you can see the panels' output, your share and how your savings are growing, all in real time.
I'm a business or a town hall, how do I access the management platform? +
Our management platform is called Marlin and it covers the full lifecycle of a solar community: acquisition, contracting, installation and energy management, tariffs and billing. You'll find all the details on the Marlin page, and from contact we'll show you how it fits your organisation.
What if I have a question while using it? +
From the app and your customer area you can reach us in one tap. And you can always call us on 900 953 223.
Aldea EV
Does it work with any electric car? +
Yes. We work with chargers compatible with the vast majority of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles on the market. During the study we choose the one that best suits your car.
I live in a neighbour community, can I install a charger? +
Of course. We install solutions designed for shared garages, with a fair split of consumption between neighbours and no management headaches. We also help you with the community side of things.
Do I really charge with 100% green energy? +
Yes. All the energy we supply comes from 100% renewable sources. And if you're in one of our solar communities, you can charge with the energy your own community generates.
Do I need to install panels at home to use the sun? +
No need. If there's a solar community within 1 km, you can join without installing anything at your home and use that energy to charge your car too.
Who takes care of maintenance? +
We do. Installation and maintenance are included, and you get real support whenever you need it. You just charge and drive.
Aldea Climate
What is a heat pump (aerotermia)? +
It's a system that takes the heat already present in the outside air and uses it to heat your home, cool it and provide hot water. Because it harnesses free energy from the environment, every euro of electricity gives you far more heat than a boiler would. A single unit does the job of heating, air conditioning and the water heater.
How much can I save? +
It depends on your home and how you heat it today, but those coming from gas or oil usually see a significant drop in their heating and hot water bills. In the assessment we give you a realistic estimate for your specific case, with no inflated promises.
Are there grants for this? +
Yes. There are subsidies for heat pumps and for the energy retrofit of homes and buildings. We take care of finding the ones you're entitled to and handling all the paperwork for you, so none are left behind.
I live in a residents' association, do we have to pay a levy? +
Not necessarily. We combine grants with financing so the association can retrofit the building with no levy and at zero cost. We study it with you before starting and walk you through every figure.
Solar self-consumption
Do I need a roof for self-consumption? +
For individual self-consumption, yes: the panels go on your roof. But if you don't have a roof or don't want building work, you can join a solar community and generate your energy all the same, with nothing to install at home.
I live in a flat. Can I do it too? +
Yes. Shared self-consumption is made exactly for this. If there's a solar community within 1 km, you sign up and share the energy of a nearby installation. No panels, no works and nothing to change.
Are there any grants or subsidies? +
In many cases, yes. We guide you through the grants available in your area and handle the paperwork. Where it applies, we also offer zero-cost financing so you start with no upfront investment.
How much can I save? +
It depends on your consumption, your installation and how much sun you make use of, so we won't promise magic numbers. The honest thing is to work it out with your real data: tell us your situation and we'll give you a clear estimate.
Do I have to switch energy provider? +
It's not required, but if you're with Aldea you have it all under one roof: generation, supply and the app to see it clearly. A single point of contact for all your energy.
On-site PPA
Do I have to invest anything? +
No. The investment in the panels and the installation is ours. You put in no capital and take on no extra charges: you only pay for the solar energy you use.
How long does the PPA last? +
They are usually medium to long-term contracts, typically several years, so the installation makes sense and you enjoy a stable price throughout. We agree the exact length based on your project.
Who owns the installation? +
During the contract the panels are ours: we are the owners and we take care of maintenance and the warranty. You benefit from the energy they generate without the obligations of ownership.
What happens when the contract ends? +
We make it clear from the start. Depending on what we agree, the installation can become yours, the agreement can be renewed, or we remove the panels. You choose the option that suits you best.
How is it different from traditional self-consumption? +
With classic self-consumption you buy the installation and take on the investment. With an on-site PPA you buy nothing: you only pay for the solar energy you use, at a fixed, lower price, with no upfront outlay.
We Rent Your Roof for Solar Energy
Which roofs qualify? +
We're a good fit for roofs on industrial warehouses, residential buildings, public buildings, as well as unused land and plots. What matters is that they have enough space and good sun exposure. If you're not sure, send us the details and we'll assess it for free.
How much can I earn? +
It depends on the size of the roof, its orientation and its location. That's why we study each case individually: after assessing your space, we tell you what fixed rent you could receive each month, with no surprises.
Do I have to pay anything? +
No. The cost to you is zero. The investment in the installation, the permits and the maintenance are all on us. You don't put in any money: you simply receive the rent.
Who maintains the installation? +
We do. Aldea takes care of the maintenance, repairs and operation for the whole contract. You don't have to deal with anything technical.
And when the contract ends? +
At the end of the agreed period, you get your roof or land back as set out in writing. Everything is clear from the very start, with no small print.
Solar communities for homes
Do I have to install panels at home? +
No. You install nothing and do no building work. You connect to a solar installation that already exists near you and use its energy.
Is there any lock-in? +
There is no lock-in. You join when it suits you and can leave whenever you want, with no penalties.
How much can I save? +
It depends on your consumption and the share we assign you. With the calculator you can estimate your savings in a couple of minutes.
How do I join? +
You look at the communities available near you, choose the one that fits and sign up. We take care of the rest.
Energy communities for municipalities
What does the council need to get started? +
Mainly the will to drive it and its supplies. We take care of the design, the paperwork and the management of the community.
How does it help vulnerable families? +
We set aside a share of the community's energy for families at risk of energy poverty, easing their bill directly.
Who manages the community? +
We do, from start to finish. Our platform manages the sharing, the data and the day-to-day monitoring.
Does it fit with funds and grants? +
Yes. The solution adapts to the available aid and we support you in making the most of the funds that best fit the project.
Home solar self-consumption
How much can I save? +
It depends on your consumption and your roof, but most homes cut their bill significantly each month. In the calculator you get your personalised estimate in minutes.
Do I need batteries? +
They are not mandatory. Without batteries you make the most of the sun during the day; with them you store energy for the evening and night. We help you decide based on how you live.
What happens with the surplus? +
The energy you produce but do not use is fed into the grid and compensated on your bill. We register it so that compensation is active from the start.
Who does the installation and the permits? +
We take care of everything: design, installation and paperwork. You get a turnkey solution and a single point of contact from start to finish.
Solar self-consumption for business
Do I need to invest? +
Not necessarily. We have options with no upfront investment, such as financed turnkey, roof rental or a PPA. We find the model that best fits you.
How much will my bill drop? +
It depends on your consumption, your activity and the available space. After the study we give you a clear estimate of the savings and the impact on your energy cost.
What if I do not have my own roof? +
We can work on land, canopies or available ground, and even propose solutions that do not depend on a roof of yours. We assess it in the study.
Do you handle the legalisation? +
Yes. We manage all the processing, permits and legalisation. You have a single point of contact for design, installation and paperwork from start to finish.
Solar self-consumption for municipalities
Which buildings can it go on? +
On schools, sports centres, markets, offices and other municipal facilities. We analyse each roof to choose where self-consumption is most worthwhile.
Are there grants or funds? +
Yes, there are usually grants and funds available for self-consumption in the public sector. We help you identify them and prepare the application.
What do we do with the surplus? +
The surplus can be offset on the bill or feed an energy community, so the leftover energy reaches residents and shops across the municipality.
Who manages the project? +
We do. We coordinate design, installation, permits and legalisation, and also support you with the grant applications, as a single point of contact.
Charge your electric car at home
Will it work with my car? +
Yes. We install charging points compatible with practically every electric and plug-in hybrid model on the market.
How much does it cost to charge at home? +
Much less than filling up with petrol and noticeably less than charging on the street. Charge at night or with your panels and the cost drops even further.
Can I charge with my solar panels? +
Of course. We set up the charger to use the surplus from your self-consumption so you charge with your own energy whenever there's sun.
Who does the installation? +
Our own technical team. We handle everything, from the study to the assembly, and leave the point running and checked.
Electric car charging for business
Is it for the fleet or for employees? +
For both. We design the installation around your needs, whether charging company vehicles, serving your staff, or both.
Do you manage the charging? +
Yes. We share the power across the points, monitor consumption and give you clear reports so every charge stays under control.
Can it be combined with self-consumption? +
Absolutely. We integrate the chargers with your panels so you charge with solar energy and the cost per vehicle is minimal.
Do you handle maintenance? +
We take care of the whole cycle: installation, management and maintenance. A single point of contact so you don't have to coordinate anyone else.
Electric car charging for municipalities
Where are the points installed? +
We study the town and propose the most useful locations: the centre, car parks, public facilities and through-traffic areas.
Who maintains them? +
We do. We handle the monitoring and maintenance of the whole network so the points are always available.
Can it integrate with municipal solar energy? +
Yes. We can connect the points with the solar generation from your public buildings for cleaner, more affordable charging.
Are there grants available? +
There are subsidies for charging infrastructure. We guide you on the options and help with the necessary paperwork.
Efficient home climate control with a heat pump
What is an aerothermal heat pump? +
It's a system that takes heat from the outside air to climate your home and warm your water. It uses free, renewable energy, so it consumes very little electricity to give you a lot of comfort.
Does it work for cooling and heating? +
Yes. The same unit gives you heating in winter and cooling in summer, plus hot water. You don't need a separate boiler or air conditioning units.
Does it combine with solar panels? +
Perfectly. Since it runs on electricity, it can be powered by the energy your panels generate. It's the best way to make the most of your self-consumption and cut the bill even further.
How much does it consume? +
Much less than a traditional boiler, because for every unit of electricity it uses it delivers several of heat. In the study we show you the estimated consumption for your specific case.
Efficient climate control for public buildings
Which buildings does it suit? +
Schools, sports centres, municipal offices, health centres and other public-use buildings. We study each case to propose the heat pump solution that best fits its use.
How much is saved on the municipal bill? +
It depends on the building and the system it replaces, but heat pumps consume far less than gas or oil. In the audit we quantify the estimated savings for your municipality.
Does it integrate with public self-consumption? +
Yes. Heat pumps run on electricity, so they can be powered by the municipal solar self-consumption. Combining them cuts the buildings' spend and emissions even further.
Are there grants? +
There are usually public grants for the energy upgrade of municipal buildings. We identify the ones that apply to your project and handle the paperwork together with the council.
Energy communities for business
What is collective self-consumption? +
It means sharing the energy from a single solar installation among several nearby consumers. Instead of one company using it all, the energy is split among the participants within the radius set by regulation.
I have an unused roof, what do you do? +
We rent it, install the solar on it and build the energy community on top. You earn income from the roof without installing, investing or dealing with anything: we manage it all.
Do I need to already have an installation? +
No. We can start from the installation you already have, help you build a new one designed for sharing, or install on a roof you rent us. We adapt the solution to your starting point.
Who can take part? +
Consumers near the installation within the radius allowed by regulation: companies in the same estate, tenants of a building or nearby neighbours. We define together who joins the community.
Who manages the sharing and billing? +
We do. We design the sharing among participants, handle the collective self-consumption process and continuously manage the energy, contracts and billing. You have a single point of contact.
Business electricity tariffs tailored to you
Which tariff suits me: indexed, fixed or flat? +
It depends on your usage and how much predictability you want. We analyse your bills and usage curve and recommend the model that saves you the most, no pressure.
Is the energy 100% green? +
Yes. All the electricity we supply comes from certified renewable sources, so your business uses clean energy without having to do anything different.
Is there a lock-in period? +
We work without abusive lock-ins or hidden clauses. We explain the terms clearly before you sign so you can decide with peace of mind.
Can you analyse my current bill? +
Of course. We review your bill and real usage to see if you're overpaying and which tariff would fit you best. The study commits you to nothing.
Self-consumption for residential buildings
Do I have to change electricity supplier? +
No. You can benefit from collective self-consumption while keeping your current supplier.
Is any work needed inside my home? +
No. The installation is mounted on the roof and common areas; there is no work inside your home.
How big does the roof need to be? +
We work with roofs or terraces larger than 500 m². If your building has one, contact us and we’ll study it.
What happens to coefficients that aren’t sold? +
When the rental ends, unsold coefficients become the property of the association, along with the whole installation.
Who maintains the installation? +
Aldea handles maintenance and insurance throughout the roof-rental period.
Electricity tariffs for homeowner associations
Which tariff suits my association? +
It depends on the shared-services usage and the predictability you want. We analyse your bills and recommend the model that saves the most.
Is the energy 100% green? +
Yes. All the electricity we supply has certified renewable origin.
Who signs the contract? +
The chairperson or the administrator signs on behalf of the association. We prepare all the paperwork.
Can you review our current bill? +
Of course. We review the shared-services bill to see if you’re overpaying. The study commits you to nothing.
Energy renovation of homes
What grants are there for renovation? +
There are public grants, such as Next Generation funds, which can cover a significant part of the investment depending on the energy savings achieved. The amount depends on each call; we advise you on those in force in your area.
Do you manage the subsidies? +
Yes. We prepare and submit the grant documentation and its subsequent reporting.
How long do the works take? +
It depends on the scope of the works. After the diagnosis we give you a realistic timeline before starting.
Can it be combined with solar self-consumption? +
Absolutely. Adding solar panels to the renovation maximises savings and further improves the building’s efficiency.
Will there be works inside the homes? +
Most works (façade, roof) are done from the outside and common areas. If any affects the interior, it is planned with residents.
